TAKING A STAND ON NOT USING THE PUZZLE PIECES

big-unpuzzledUpon investigation of the history of the Autism Puzzle Piece, I will no longer use this logo.  The first original logo was created in 1963.  Please feel free to google this logo, and you will see this sad logo.  Any logo that represents Autism should never represent the preconceived notion that someone Autistic is incomplete.

From my own personal experience and dealing with Autism for over 12 years, it has made me realize a puzzle piece does not correctly represent or classify Autism.  Our Autism Community is made up of many unique, talented, compassionate, diverse and interesting children and adults. This logo I found designed by Bob King, caught my eye. It states, “If you are puzzled by Autism, ask someone who isn’t confused. Nothing about us-without us”.  This logo touched my heart and motivates me to further educate others about Autism.
