Push-Ups Are Powerful!

Push-ups are known as a common exercise in which the body is raised and lowered by using the arms while in the prone position. This basic calisthenic type exercise is used in athletic training, some martial arts training, and physical education. Push-ups are very well known and commonly used in military physical training (also called PT) some times as a part of training and other times as a form of punishment (I should know because I used to be in the military).

Push-ups are both powerful and economical because they allow you to strengthen and tone your body without buying and/or using any exercise equipment. The only equipment that is required of you when doing this beneficial exercise is your own bodyweight. Push-ups provides a full body workout because it allows you to attain an abundant amount of muscle groups all at the same time. Muscle groups ranging from the triceps to the forearms are strengthened and toned along with the chest and shoulders. Push-ups also power up your core by strengthening your abdominals. Push-ups also charge and boost your metabolism by allowing your heart to pump blood to the organs of your body that require oxygen much faster which in turn boosts your metabolic rate resulting in your body burning more calories.

What also makes push-ups beneficial and unique is that they can virtually be done almost anywhere at anytime. If you planned on doing them at the gym and ran out of time, they can be done at home or vice versa. If done on a regular daily basis, push-ups can be a great asset to your health not only by improving your core strength and boosting your metabolism but also by building lean muscle mass.
