Be Persistent And Stay Consistent!

High blood pressure or hypertension is when the force of the blood against your artery walls are elevated to the point of where it may cause health problems for your body. When it comes to the signs and symptoms of high blood pressure, the most dangerous risk to your health is choosing not to see a doctor for an annual check up or just being totally unaware of having it because most individuals won’t show any signs or symptoms of high blood pressure at all even when a high blood pressure monitor gives a high reading.

If you suspect or feel as though you are experiencing any symptoms of high blood pressure, you must be persistent in finding out what those main complications and symptoms are such as the common ones like dizziness or headaches and stay consistent in preventing them for example by either maintaining a healthy diet or exercising. Besides dizziness or headaches being common symptoms of high blood pressure, other possible symptoms could be “shortness of breath” in which the arteries carrying blood from the heart to the lungs are narrowed resulting in a high level of pressure within the lungs. Other warning signs include a disease called “hypertensive retinopathy” in which the retina of the eye is affected when the vessels that nourish the retina are damaged due to high blood pressure. Bleeding in the back of the eye is also linked to “hypertensive retinopathy”. This disease however at most times is unaware to the patient but discovered during an eye exam by an optometrist.

Eating healthy and exercising plays a major role in preventing high blood pressure. Consuming foods that are rich in calcium such as cheese, yogurt, fish, beans and greens will prevent high blood pressure. If you like to drink alcoholic beverages or smoke, you’re going to increase your chances of getting hypertension. To avoid this, lower your alcohol intake and stop smoking. Physical activity and exercise will decrease high blood pressure by reducing stress and maintaining a healthy weight. A healthy weight along with eating right prevents obesity which could possibly reduce the chances of getting high blood pressure.
